Cosens Successfully Defends IFL Middleweight Title

On Saturday, January 14, 2012, Charlie Cosens successfully defended his middleweight title for the Impact Fight League at the Place of Auburn Hills.  Cosens

was going up against a 7-2 fighter named Cody Wall fighting out of the American Muscle Gym in Grand Rapids, MI. There was a crowd of 2,000 to 3,000 people at the Palace.  As the fighters walked to the cage they walked down a 300ft catwalk with flames shooting up 10 to 15ft in the air.  The atmosphere was electric with the music booming and the fans cheering.

As the bout began, Wall immediately shot for a single leg takedown that was stuffed immediately by Cosens. It was evident that Wall did not want this to be astandup fight.  Cosens dominated the fight choosing his shots from side control, throwing heavy knees from the clinch,  and working off the cage.  Midway through the 3rd round Cosens was able to land some heavy shots from side control that ultimately ended the fight.

The main difference between an average fighter and a true mixed martial artist is the time, dedication, and sacrifice that is put into training.  Cosens is a veteran of mixed martial arts that truly understands what it takes to get it done in the cage.  He attributes a huge amount of his success to the incredible amount of support he gets from his students at Cosens MMA.
