Introduction to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

Our goal in this program is for all of our students, no matter age or experience, to have a base knowledge in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). MMA is a mixture of multiple martial arts blended into one, generally consisting of, but not limited to, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Muay Thai Boxing and American Wrestling. Since our students will be learning all of these techniques here at Cosens MMA we want to make sure you can retain the information taught and safely perform these techniques before moving onto our core Combat Athlete Program.

All of our programs are “team based” and have all of the comradery you would expect out of a Cosens MMA class. We begin our classes with a warm up and stretch time. After this, we move on to our submission or strike of the day. There will be no form of contact (sparring) in the Intro Program but some techniques will require you to use a partner. At the end of each class we have a strength and conditioning session.

After successfully graduating from our Intro Program, which usually consisting of a maximum of 3 months, you will then be invited to our Combat Athlete Program. Our Combat Athlete Program is our core program where students use their base knowledge of MMA to advance their skills – in other words the training wheels come off. Classes will consist of higher skill level techniques with some form of contact sparring – either striking or wrestling with submissions (rolling) with cardio being cranked up a bit.
